I submitted the sketch last night...for those of you who want to see it, you can find it here: [link]
This one took me a while to finish. I couldn't figure out what the background would be...and when I did pick one...after working on it for a few moments I wanted to curse myself to oblivion.
All in all, I had fun making this one...even if the background came out a bit blurry. I might tweak it later.
Time: Est. 6 hrs (off and on) Program: Doggwaffle Song(s): Mostly songs from Dave Matthews Band. (iPod was on Shuffle mode)
Good pose, staff, hand sparkles, staff sparkles, shoulderpads, and wind-effects. Would look better with sun glare, pillar carving/decay, consistent detail between background objects (wall lacking detail, and lighting-angle doesn't match in background images). Slope of grass/wall is kind of exaggerated, sky is overly simplistic though it blends-in with the color-scheme and level of detail... His front sash and his cape need some lineart or shading to show us where the fabric is bending (e.g. the outmost strip of clothes would have a thin line, and the most-bent strip of clothing would also have a thin line (or better shading) so that we can see where the clothing is most-bent; look at other artworks of dresses in the wind)... Feathers need lineart too so that we can tell they are feathers. No nails or eye-sparkle? Hair is well done. Armor has good pattern, some textures on various things and I enjoy magic-sparkles... Gem on the necklace (is he holding it on his wrist?) needs more lineart to show that it is a gem. I think that the 3-dimensional shapes of your images could use more lines to show us where the fabrics or objects have dips & curves.
That said, I quit drawing at the age of four (when I played my first computer game - it was an RTS).
Interesting to see some recent art. I think I'll critique more (even though I don't draw anything).
WOW *0* ZEEEBBBBBYYYYY!!!!! *shot* You seem to be on a Wayrift art-roll recently. Gotta love the near lineless style!!

Thanks, though I'm worried that I've lost some of my edges on this one. I will be tweaking it soon, before I forget where I wanted to sharpen some of the background.
Woah! Very dynamic!! I showed it to Syn and her first word was "WOW!" too! Thought I'd pass that on given she doesn't have an account here.
I really love the ice magic effects, for one. I don't think I've seen ice magic done like that before but it looks very cool! I want some!
I also really like his face! The shading is very well done and his eyes really stand out to me. Adore the shiny hair, too! I know how much of a pain that armor can be -- you paint it far more ornate than I would. XD
To tell the truth, I was worried it might be confused with "White" magic...but I couldn't come up with a better way of demonstrating Ice casting so I went with it...(I want some too! ) Since ice can sparkle given the correct lighting, why can't the spell sparkle too?
In a sense, I'm okay with my kiddo closing my program without me saving...this picture wouldn't have been made. Zeb would have been stuck in his tree...again. (I don't know why I like drawing him there. I just keeps happening. ) But this piece forced me to play with a lot of different light sources...frustrating but fun at the same time.
Go ahead and post it whenever you'd like, you know I don't mind one bit.

Keep the critiques coming...even if I don't fix it on that particular piece, I'll definitely will keep it in mind on my next one.
